The Mississippi River Ram Fleet was a
collection of steamboats fitted with
armor and reinforced hulls used, as one
might suspect, to ram boats of the
Confederate Navy and sympathetic
merchants.  They played an important
part in the Battle of Memphis on June 6,
1862, a victory for Ulysses S. Grant
which propelled him to his command of
all the Union Armies.  This is a very fine
stone in wonderful preservation.

Granite Stone Marker
This marker is a large,
pie-shaped piece of
almost-white granite
with one flat surface
prepared for etching.
That and the artist’s
palate make it unique.

I suppose this is
more commonly
seen in Canada but
I have only seen
one, in North
Carolina.  It’s a
beautiful granite
marker with a very
intricate carving.

Jonathan was a "special" child.
Of course, all children are
special; in this case Jon had
disabilities.  I was moved by the
tribute his family paid.  His site is
a cluster with flowers and
monuments.  He was truly love.
